I have big feet and like to swim, does that make me a Sasquatch mermaid? Well, not really — the same can be said about tennis whites. Some of them look comfy and claim to make your sweat evaporate like morning dew, but take a closer look at the size 0 model, and you realize she could be comfy in toddler clothes and probably doesn’t retain enough water to sweat.
So where does that leave us average sized girls, who actually eat food? Well the debate continues, but here are a few options to consider:
TOPS (from left to right): Athleta Shiva Top $49.00, Athleta Live In Top by Pink Lotus 44.99, Athleta Color Block Fast Track Tee $59, Uniqlo Round Neck Short Sleeve T-shirt $12.90. Everyone makes fun of me for wearing long-sleeves in the heat, but it actually keeps me cooler since the hot sun doesn’t hit the skin. It does help if the fabric is super thin…
DRESSES (from left to right): Here are a few dresses (left to right): L’ Etoile Drop Waist, Zip Back Dress $97.50, L’ Etoile Pleated Contrast Dress $58.50, Lacoste Mesh Short Sleeve Tennis Dress $110.00. The Lacoste dress looks a bit short, would pair it with a skirt or cropped yoga tights. I have to admit that can get hot on a sweltering day, a skirt could also work.
SKIRTS (from left to right): L’Etoile Pleated Skort with Textured Lace $135, Athleta Sunless Swim Skirt $49.00, Athleta 2 in 1 Knicker with Skirt. The E’toile pieces look very comfy and are exceptional quality, the sale items cost the same as other mid-priced lesser quality clothes. There will be snickering behind my back when I stroll on the court in the plaid knickers from Athleta, but I LOVE them…and they are built into the skirt!
Boy Shorts—The final frontier (left to right): Save on these tummy slimmers at “Targét”, Champion Seamless Active Boy Short $7-14, Gillian and O’Malley Seamless Active Boy Short $11.99. The Champion ones are comfy and don’t squeeze, although they snag horribly in the wash, so you might want to throw them into a little mesh delicates bag. Haven’t tried G&O but they look similar.
So there you have it. Comfy tennis whites may exist…you be the judge.
